What the core actually does
The sandwich panel core determines insulation value (R-value), fire behavior and structural stiffness. In hot climates the roof panel matters most — a metal roof can reach 75 °C surface temperature at noon.
PU (polyurethane)
Best thermal performance per millimeter (λ ≈ 0.022 W/m·K). Choose 50–75 mm roofs for workshops and 75–100 mm for cold storage. Fire rating is B1–B2 depending on formulation.
Rock wool
Non-combustible (A1 rating), lower insulation value per millimeter, heavier. The right choice where fire code requires A-class walls or around production with hot processes.
EPS
Lowest cost, adequate insulation for ventilated agricultural buildings, but combustible — avoid in warehouses storing flammables.
Our engineer's default
For the Gulf and Sahel: 75 mm PU roof + rock-wool walls. For East and Southeast Asia: 50–75 mm PU throughout with ventilated ridge. Tell us your site and we'll spec it in the quotation — panel cost differences are small compared to retrofitting later.
